• Sabic and Shell award FEED contract to KBR

    USA’s KBR, a global engineering, construction and services company, has been awarded front-end engineering and design (feed) contract for the planned polyurethane plant at the Saudi Arabia Petrochemical Company (Sadaf) complex at Jubail. Joint venture partners, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and the UK/Dutch Shell Group are the project owners.

    Hilton Worldwide is set to add the city of Al Ahsa to its Saudi Arabia portfolio, following a signing agreement with Al Jazeera Group, owned by H.E. Sheikh Dr. Jassim bin Nasser bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. The 180-room Hilton Al Ahsa, is expected to open in 2016 and will be strategically located in the downtown area of Al Ahsa in an upcoming district surrounded by a growing number of residential, retail and commercial developments.
  • SR700m, 1000-bed medical city planned in Riyadh

    The Al Hanouf Group and US-based Mount Sinai Hospital group have signed an agreement to build a medical city with a capacity of 1,000 beds in Riyadh. The project cost is estimated in the region of SR700 million. The facility, Al Hanouf-Mount Sinai Medical Rehabilitation Center, is envisaged for patients of special needs.
  • GE Power wins $23m Saudi orders

    GE Power Conversion has been awarded a contract by Hyundai Heavy Industries to supply highly efficient and flexible components. The SR26 million contract calls for the supply of 24 number of 18-megawatt MV7000 variable speed drives to SEC’s Jeddah South and Shuqaiq Steam Power Plants. The MV7000 range supplied by GE will drive the boiler feed pumps, minimizing effects on the supply network by controlling motor speed, torque and power.

The order includes a considerable number and wide range of Metso`s Neles® rotary and globe valves and Jamesbury® valves, including control, on-off and safety valves.
  • Saudi Aramco subsea cable contract

    McDermott International, Inc. announced that one of its subsidiaries was awarded a substantial contract to provide the electrical power supply system for Saudi Aramco in the Abu Ali and Khursaniyah fields in the Arabian Gulf. The project includes the procurement, construction, and installation of two 20-kilometer 230 kV subsea circuits routed offshore to connect land based facilities.

    Contracts have been signed with Al-Murshid Holding, Anwar Al-Khaleej and Babil Maintenance & Operation Co. to carry out the project to build women’s colleges in Al-Ula. The project, which will span an area of 9 million square meters, is estimated to cost SR208 million and will accommodate 7,000 students.
