Spain’s Typsa has been awarded a contract to design and supervise the construction of a 50MW solar plant in Saudi Arabia. Typsa, a civil engineering, architecture, industry and energy and Environment Company, will help Saudi Arabia boost renewable energy by designing a solar plant. The firm will oversee the implementation of a 50MW photovoltaic (PV) solar scheme for the local Taqnia Energy. The plant will be developed in the town of Layla, 330 kilometres south of Riyadh.

The project will be developed in parallel with the kingdom’s ambitious program to develop 9.5MW of solar energy under its National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) by 2023.
